Key Learning Areas              

English: Using the Spalding Method, students at Montgrove College acquire the tools to become skilled at all aspects of literacy from an early age. They soon become competent readers and accomplished writers cultivating an appreciation of quality literature.

Mathematics: A variety of equipment, group work, investigation and discussion is used to ensure students develop an understanding of mathematical concepts.

World of Maths vist the school regularly and provide entertaining and educational mathematical activities.

Mathematics is integrated with IT with the use of SmartKiddies online maths program.

HSIE: This is where students learn about themselves and the way in which they interact with each other and the environment. Regular school excursions are arranged to enrich learning in this area.

Science and Technology: At Montgrove, our aim is to provide experiences in practical problem solving in order to develop confidence and responsibility in our students' interaction with technology and the environment.

Frequent school visits by Questacon and Lab on Legs provide fun and a variety of learning experiences.

Creative Arts: This area encompasses Music, Dance and Art.

Music plays an important part at Montgrove. Students are given the opportunity to experience musical concepts through a variety of learning activities involving singing, playing instruments, and music appreciation.

Students have the opportunity at a young age to learn the ukulele. This provides them with a base of musical knowledge which can be expanded with other instruments in future years.

Advantage is taken of visiting groups such as Drumbeats.

Girls from Year 3 have the opportunity to join the school choir.

Dance is interrelated with physical education and integrated with the Spanish Language.

Students learn cultural dances relating to the varied ethnic groups that make up the school's population as well as Spanish dances which are performed at various school functions.

Art provides activities to challenge students' creativity while developing their artistic skills and aesthetic awareness.

Physical Education: The curriculum includes swimming, dance, games skills, athletics, fitness and health programs.

Primary students participate in PSSA competition in soccer and oz-tag. Students are able to join Wollemi soccer and basketball clubs for further competitive sports.

Religion: The curriculum covers all the basic areas of the Catholic faith. Students have the opportunity to deepen and develop their relatioship with Jesus Christ and the teachings of the Catholic Church.
