Music plays a significant role at Montgrove. At Montgrove College, we recognise the importance of music as a spatial, social, as well as musicological learning tool; essential to the holistic approach to education we have available to our students. As part of Creative Arts course, it is taught from Kindergarten to Year 6. It covers the mandatory curriculum for Years 7 and 8, as well as the elective program in Years 9 and 10 and the Preliminary and HSC options in Years 11 and 12.

Extra-curricular music encompasses choirs and instrumental and vocal ensembles. Montgrove has been very successful over the years gaining 1st place at the Penrith Eisteddfod in all of the above groups. Individual tuition is offered for voice and piano by specialist tutors.

In essence, Music at Montgrove College is hands-on and available to all students. It integrates the elements of performance, listening, musicological research, and composition at varying levels. It encourages both the social and individual aspects of the music making process. It fosters creativity whilst building linear and non-linear thinking or problem solving skills.

In summary it is a fun and engaging program that encourages the development of the whole person (including sensory, intellectual, emotional, cultural, physical, spatial, and social).

We look forward to Music at Montgrove growing from strength to strength in years to come.
